Music
Baptiste Domis is a classical guitarist from Seclin, France. He started playing the guitar at eight years old with Philippe Menechet at the Centre Municipal d'Expression Musicale (CMEM) in Seclin. It was a few years later when he met Nicolas Lestoquoy that he discovered an ongoing passion for this instrument. In 2010, he joined Jean-Philippe Gruneissen's studio at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) in Lille (Northern France) and obtained his "Diplômes de fin d'Etudes" (End of Studies Diploma) with Raphaël Godeau.
He then started teaching alongside Lestoquoy before obtaing his Diplôme National d'Orientation Professionelle (National Diploma of Professional Orientation) in 2017. Godeau influences Domis to have a a wider scope of the music he listened, played and taught, pushing the limits outside the more well-known classical repertoire further.
In 2017 he joined the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) in Judicael Perroy's studio. He then became his guide and helped him to shape his artistic personality with a near magical pedagogy. He taught at the San francisco State University (SFSU) in 2021 alongside Larry Ferrara, where he gave lessons along with lectures.
In 2022 he became Marc Teicholz student and gave his final recital at the SFCM with a singular, warm and masterful pedagogy. At the same occasion, he made the American creation of a piece that Domis asked Chritian Vasseur to compose for him: the Sonata 2.
In 2023, Domis became a full time teacher at the EMAS (Espace des Musiques et des Arts de la Scène in Grande-Synthe (Northern France). His pedagogy focuses essentially on building and shaping each students' own artistic personality, an independance yet direction in their amateur career along with a cherished sense of community. Many projects and recitals are proposed as well and gather everyone,.
